World Indices Symbols – How to find and use

This KB article explains how to find and use the index symbols for many global indexes.

Master List

Download the master list of indices from the website: https://bullsystems.com/indiceslistName.asp

On that web page, you can use your browser’s search / find facility to search for keywords. This is usually the <Ctrl>+F key combination, or use your browser’s menu option (typically: Edit > Find in page).

Easy copy list

To copy the following symbols into a new BullCharts Watchlist in your Security Manager, you can use the mouse cursor to highlight some or all of the codes below, and then copy these to your Windows clipboard (either with the browser menu option: Edit > Copy, or simply use the key combination: <Ctrl>+C ). Then in BullCharts, you can either create a new Watchlist or edit the Properties of an existing one, and Paste the Windows clipboard contents into the watchlist. [TIP: To add the list of codes that is in your Windows clipboard, go to BullCharts and right-click on your desired watchlist in the Security Manager, then select the option “Properties” from the drop-down menu, and click in the space where the existing Symbols are shown, then paste the clipboard contents using <Ctrl>+V.]

How to use these

Create a new price chart, and simply type in the relevant code as shown bolded from the list above, or any other from the master list. For example, the S&P500 index can be plotted using:  US.^SPX
(the  ^  character is referred to as the carat and is typically on the computer keyboard at <Shift>+6.

How does this work?

The price data for these securities resides on the BullCharts servers in Sydney, and so you will need an internet connection in order to view the price chart. There can be a delay of 10 to 30 seconds to download the data, depending on your internet connection speed at the time.
